Scotch Whisky Charity Auction update
24 Sep 2020

Just over a year ago Edrington brands, The Macallan, Highland Park and The Glenrothes donated a number of prestige bottles to the Scotch Whisky Charity Auction to raise nearly £400,000 for the Beatson Cancer Charity. It was a brilliant initiative to be involved with and we have just been given an update on how the money has been spent.
Among the initiatives that have benefited from the auction are:
- The creation of a Haematology Research Fund to stimulate life-saving advances in haematology treatment
- Funding of a Myeloma Clinical Nurse Specialist operating between the New Victoria Hospital and the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
- Support to deliver much-valued complementary therapy programme at The New Victoria Hospital in Glasgow.
- Practical care and support for Specialist Health at Work Service (SHAWS) to better support people affected by cancer with workplace challenges and continue to meet changing needs.
Martin Cawley, CEO of Beatson Cancer Charity said: “By supporting these initiatives, the companies contributing to the Scotch Whisky Charity Auction have helped more than a thousand people in Scotland at that very moment when they need it most. We simply cannot overstate the positive impact this has had, and will continue to have, upon patients and their loved ones. On behalf all involved with Beatson Cancer Charity, thank you for your amazing support.”
Lindsay McGarvie, Corporate Affairs Director, Edrington, said: “This was the first ever Scotch Whisky industry-wide charity auction and it’s fantastic to hear how the money raised has helped make a difference for The Beatson and for people impacted by cancer.”
